My pregnancy quirks

Since I was new to this whole thing I had some trial and error, I had a lot of unknowns, and I have had some ups and downs. A lot of pregnancy I have found is about being comfortable, comfortable with your (ever changing) body, comfortable in your relationships, and just comfortable in general, especially towards the end when everything you do seems to be the opposite!

I wanted to post somethings that I have found that makes things a little easier on me, because I would like to do this again....some day so I thought it would be good to look back on.

- Fro Yo... Frozen Yogurt, when you are eating ice cream every night you've gotta make the switch at some point. These blue bunny personals are great because who ever feels like scooping! (white chocolate raspberry)

- Soda- Sometimes there is nothing quite like a cold sprite, dr. pepper, or the amazing caffeine free root beer

- Dinner- nothing sounds good. ever. But don't fight about it, don't pout about it, just let Luke eat whatever he wants and eat some cereal, veggies and dip, or grilled cheese.

- Healthy Options- You always want to be so healthy but sometimes it is hard, keep V8 on hand and have a glass with a meal that doesn't include veggies

- Individuals- The individual servings for V8 and OJ (with calcium) are great, and a fun afternoon treat at work.

- Indugle for lunch- not all the time, but pizza hut personal pan pizza and breadsticks, umm yes please!

- Tea- when trying to limit the caffine in the morning, a big glass of oj is good, or flavored tea (rasberry)

- Vodka Tonics- Perrier water or any sparkling water with a lemon or lime wedge, preferrably from a wine glass with crushed ice.

- Bud Light- O'douls Amber

Some special gifts!

Mr. William has gotten some very special gifts these past couple weeks! It makes my heart warm with how much thought, love, and care everyone already has for this lil fella! My moms good friend Michelle and I have become close throughout the years and she of course is the one who made this amazing quilt for him. On the top on the barn it says the name of my grandparents farm which is also the name of the companies my dad started and now the name of his farm. Down on the bottom it is embroidered with his name. I don't care who you are, getting presents in the mail is just plain fun! Especially when you open the outer carton and inside you find something as pretty as this!
It was from my Aunt and two cousins, I thought about waiting for Luke to open it but quickly decided that would be just silly! Inside was the cutest softest blankie all embroidered for him! We love it SO much and it was one of the first times we have seen his name on something which made it very special!
My sister also made us a very special bassinet, she just wrote about it on her blog here. I cant wait till he is sleeping right beside me so soundly in something so special. I would like him to be a good sleeper (of course!) and be used to being in his room, but I think this will be perfect for the first few weeks and it is easy to transport so if I want to bring it down while I am sleeping on the couch or anything like that it will be perfect!

No, that is NOT what yours are used for...

So Tuesday night we had our forth "baby class" I was looking forward to the hospital tour this week, It definitely made things more real... I even got some butterflies when we went in the labor and delivery room. I cant believe I will be in that bed in just two months! There is one daddy in our class that to put it nicely "likes attention" he always has a question about everything, which I don't mind but when your questions are pointless it is 9 pm, we haven't been home from work yet, and we are hungry, the pregnant lady in me wants to tell him to cut the BS!
This week was by far the best, as we were discussing breastfeeding of course this mr. had a question.
Mr. "Don't laugh at my question I am completely serious"
my mind: don't start a statement or question like that or you are asking to get laughed at.
Mr. "Sooooo, Can I use MY nipples as like a pacifier for the baby, you know like something for it to sucks on?"
Class all starts laughing, another daddy even had to excuse himself, I am slap happy by this time at night so laughed, but Luke, who usually laughs, was so annoyed, like COME ON DUDE!
Teacher: Ummm no, we don't really do that
Mr. "ohh okay well I thought God put them there for a reason and I thought maybe that was it"

I swear some people.... Ohh and in case you were wondering his wife (or pregnant person) was jsut sitting there laughing the entire time.

Onto other news...
I had my 31 week check up yesterday, all went well, I have gained two pounds in the past two weeks and now am at a total of 20 pounds. Baby William is a good boy and is head down, and may have been in a funny position because I am still measuring 29 cm.
I have had some Braxton Hicks contractions here and there and the doctor will not worry till they go on more often but said it is my body's way of telling me to slow it down!

Then onto the dentist, my dentist. He checked me all over before anything was done and what did he find? NO signs of gum disease or tooth decay, I do NOT need two fillings replaced, my wisdom teeth do not appear to be harming anything if I am okay with them we will wait till xrays can be taken to determine anything, and he DID find a cavity, a new one.
How crazy, EVERYTHING that dentist told me was wrong and he didn't even find an actual cavity! I proceeded to ask a few questions and have my teeth cleaned, I will go back in 6 months for x rays, cleaning, and filling. Just didn't feel like getting anything done with something so precious growing inside me.
I don't know what the deal is, but I like my dentist opinion MUCH better! Also made Luke an appointment to go in October, I wonder if his EIGHT cavities are true, I doubt it!

31 Weeks and Pics!

It happened: the Belly button is completely flattened

but I still "heart" it.

I am 31 weeks pregnant!
This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too!

You may have noticed some leaking of colostrum, or "premilk," from your breasts lately. Some expectant moms experience this leaking, others don't.
Have you noticed the muscles in your uterus tightening now and then? Many women feel these random contractions — called Braxton Hicks contractions — in the second half of pregnancy. Often lasting about 30 seconds, they're irregular, and at this point, they should be infrequent and painless
I think I have felt a few braxton hicks contractions, I cant be sure since I've never felt it before but I am going to mention it to my doctor tomorrow. Other than that things are going well, I think I have the definite 3rd trimester sleepies! But who wouldn't with lugging around 20 extra pounds, something constantly kicking at you, and sleep being interrupted by an endless bladder!
I am still working full time and our FULL weekends will come to an end in about a month. Not that I mind them but it will be nice to have some time to finish up William's room and do somethings around the house we have been meaning to get to before he gets here!

My amazing baby shower!

The little man's wardrobe has begun!

One of my favorite boys in the whole world!
Little does he know I am making him a very best friend! :)
The "petite ya's" My moms close friends (the ya's) all have at least one daughter,
here is most of us!

The YA's!
My grandma and aunt came in from Illinois, it was so great to have them there!

3 of my best girlfriends, Michelle, Winnie, and Meghan

Luke's niece Peyton, excited about a new cousin!

Presents!
A handmade quilt by my moms close friend Michelle, she started working on this when I told her I was pregnant, it is very special and even has his name, and says Riverdale on the barn.

My sister and I, she made me take one picture while wearing the sash.

Yummy Cake!

Saturday my moms friends, the ya's and my sister threw me an amazing baby shower! There was a TON of great food, a yummy cake, fun games, and of course lots of presents! William has so many "aunts" and "grammys" and he has no idea how much he is loved and how excited everyone is for his arrival! This was the first time I saw William's name on things which was fun and exciting, and he ended up with a loot of shoes (taking after mama?) is there anything cuter than newborn shoes and boots!?!?
A big thank you to all!

Dentist Updates

Thank you for all your sweet comments and encouragement, so nice to know I am not the only one that thought that place/doctor was whacko!

Yesterday I got to talk to my dentist and another dentist at the practice on the phone for a while, they assured me I need a second opinion and looked at my xrays from January and have no idea how I could of developed such things in six months! I was relieved to hear this and decided to make an appointment with them to go over everything, they got me in Wednesday after work and my OB appt (another thing I love about them, very flexible!) I also think it is very nice they called me back at work and talked to me for a while. It is probably inevitable that I will need my wisdom teeth out eventually but my sister had all four out and said it wasn't too bad, which is good because I think that bone growth is hereditary. When Luke had his out it was BAD! I just want to wait till William is a little older so I don't have to be on pain meds while feeding and things like that.

A few people have asked me who it was etc.

Where'd 30 weeks go? VENT!

I am 30 weeks pregnant this week, however somehow the week has gotten away from me. Maybe it is coming back from out of town, maybe it is because I have a big work load this week, or maybe it is just....this....week....
I have felt extremely overwhelmed this week, with everything.
Yesterday I had a dentist appointment, just a cleaning, I go every 6 months. My regular dentist is still out by my moms house so I was looking to find one closer. I was also glad I was getting this done because it will be one less thing to have when William is here. (I just scheduled my last haircut before he gets here!) So in I went for what I thought was a normal cleaning, I cant even get xrays right now so everything is usually pretty quick. About an hour later I was back in my car, teeth not cleaned, and I was calling Luke crying (yes I am an emotional wreck normal so me with these hormones is overload, but I was really worried)
In the hour I was there she used the laser cavity finder, that went fine. She then took measurements of my teeth for signs of decay I guess, and proceeded to tell me that I have gum disease, I have quite a few teeth that are in the 5 mm and 6 mm range which is a high number of tooth decay (they measure it in mm) I was shocked. Gum Disease! I am 26 and have never had problems with my teeth before, ever. She went over what a treatment plan would be for this and then said I would have to come back every 3 months to get them treated. For a year, fine for two years, fine... but no she said it would be for the rest of my life!
After this the "dentist" came in, I am not trying to be judgemental because plenty of people in my industry probably think I don't know anything because I am young, but not only was this guy young, he looked like he partied to hard last night and didn't have time to get ready for work. As he went over everything with me, he told me how my teeth will end up falling out from this etc etc, he also said I need to get all FOUR of my wisdom teeth out.... keep in mind I have not had any x rays at this place and I only have one of four of my wisdom teeth in so there is no way he could of seen anything. Also they are not causing me any problems at all. THEN he pulled up pictures on this screen of my teeth and showed me two fillings he would want to replace. I was so overwhelmed at this point I didn't know if I should laugh or cry at this man. All I wanted to do was ask him if he was married or had kids, you don't tell a 7 month pregnant person they need all of these things done, I am trying to wrap my head around giving birth right now and that is the #1 priority. I say this because this "dr" was thinking I was getting ALL of this done last night!
Person #3 then comes in, the insurance lady, and had already pulled my insurance and everything I needed done and told me how much it would all cost etc etc... I guess they were waiting for the go ahead from me to get the drilling started!
After I made it clear I wasn't going to get anything done right then and there much less with in the next two months while pregnant, I mean God forbid something would go wrong and I would get an infection or something, I cant even be on antibiotics! I asked a few more questions to the dental hygienist, then she walked me up front. I decided to make another appointment since I still had not gotten my teeth cleaned and apparently needed some other work done. When we couldn't find a day that worked (and believe me they tried, they were doing everything they could to get me back in there) the appt making lady was like "you really need to take off work and get this done for the sake of your baby" WHAT! Are you kidding me? I already take off work all the time for my OB appointments and just another thing you don't say to someone 7 months pregnant. I do and try everything I can to be the healthiest I can be for the baby and now you are telling me I am doing something bad, when I am sure there are lots more people than me who neglect their teeth, remember I am going every 6 months! I was so annoyed I made and appoint for October (since she told me I am on maternity leave then so it is ok, really none of her business if you ask me) I left there so flabbergasted...

Luke doesn't have dental insurance, he has perfect teeth and rarely has anything wrong so about a month ago we paid just for him to get a normal cleaning at a place by our house. They also used the laser cavity finder and told Luke he has 8 cavities, also tried to sell him on invisline, and whitening.

SO...
Are these new places with these new expensive machines just trying to make a buck?
Are these new machines great and truthful and now we can get things fixed we didn't know about?

I am going to get a 2nd opinion from my dentist out by my moms house, But if I DO have gum disease and need it treated, why didn't that dentist know about it?

I also thought I had the childcare situation worked out and now I am second guessing my choice... I will leave that for another day though, better get back to work. Thanks for listening to my novel/vent if you are still reading... trooper!

Here is what I feel like at 30 weeks pregnant...in July... in St. Louis!

Sneak Peek!

Here is a sneak peek on some things we have done in the nursery! They say to get most of it done by your 3rd trimester so you can relax, we have done a great job at doing a little bit at a time! Closet with no doors, but curtains, and added shelving.
At first I thought this font I got was too girlie, but the navy blue boys it up a bit.

Wilson Family Vacation

The whole gang! (missing one of Luke's brothers who could not make it)

Our family.

Luke throwing the kids in the pool, he got his workout!
Look how high he got this little one!

Guys Grilling.

Playing in the pool.

Say Cheese!

Experimenting with our new camera!
Thought I would share...since he IS the cutest puppy in the entire world! Mom thinks this is her blanket, but actually it is mine

My Brother is in this big bump, I am going to love him like he was my own puppy and I cant wait to meet him!

Why are they taking so many pictures of me?

My brother the soccer player

Lately little William has been showing off his muscles (kicking the crap out of mama) But it is so much fun! He pokes way out at times and Luke can really feel him all over. I love to sit there with my shirt pulled up and just watch my belly move! We can usually tell if it is just a foot or hand or if it is something long like a leg or arm!
I cant get over how crazy this is, he is just a little human living inside of me, hanging out, and growing strong. I hope he is taking notes in there and knows everything about the box business so mama can retire someday!
Last night Boomer wanted to get in on the action, he was laying on me and snuggling and had his hand (paw) here for a long time.... Pure Brotherly love!

We're back!

We left Thursday afternoon for Tablerock Lake (about a 4 hour drive) we met Luke's dad side family there. There were 20 of us total, everyone had a good time, especially all the little cousins! Some went tubing and skiing out on the boats but Luke and I mostly hung at the pool and tried to stay cool. It was extremely hot this weekend, pregnant or not! I was a trooper most of the time, except at one point Luke and I took a walk and we were going up a hill and I had to stop and sit down, I thought I was either going to pass out from the heat or have a heart attack, Luke even felt my heat beating and couldn't believe how fast it was going! I have loved this pregnancy so much, but sometimes things like this really take it out of you, I am not one to slow down and take a break but I am trying to be better about this!

We made a big purchase recently for the baby, a new camera! I have been wanting one for a while, the one I have now I got right before a trip to Mexico when we got engaged. And we figured if we were going to get one my swell have it for all the baby pictures we will be taking and learn how to use it a little first! It is a big nice camera so we are still learning, but got some good shots this weekend, now we have to figure out how to get them on the computer. I may work on this tonight.

Boomer stayed with my grandma (Nana) while we were gone, she is so great to him and loves having him there! Except Boomer is very scared of storms, thunder, gunshots, and fireworks... so when St. Louis got hit with a huge storm, my grandma was in her lazy boy all the way reclined and Boomer jumped right on top of her and wouldn't move! She had to yell for my grandpa who was in the basement to come help get him off! Poor baby!

Nana also thinks Boomer has some eating issues, in reality he just doesn't eat a lot when we are gone, most dogs don't. But no matter what every time we are gone Nana and Grandpa do everything they can to make Boomer eat his food, when we went to spring training it was gravy poured over it, this weekend it was bacon once and cornbeef and hash (don't ask) Then they say he chows it down right away... well yeah duhh!

Needless to say Boomer has been up in our room since we got home laying down, not sure if he is pouting that the good food is gone, or trying to get over a tummy ache! What a tough life!

29 Week Uppity Updates!

29 Weeks: Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk. This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.

Your baby's very active now. Let your provider know if you ever notice that your baby is becoming less active. You may need a nonstress test or biophysical profile to check on your baby's condition. Some old friends — heartburn and constipation — may take center stage now. The pregnancy hormone progesterone relaxes smooth muscle tissue throughout your body, including your gastrointestinal tract. This relaxation, coupled with the crowding in your abdomen, slows digestion. Sluggish digestion can cause gas and heartburn — especially after a big meal — and contribute to constipation.Your growing uterus may also be contributing to hemorrhoids. These swollen blood vessels in your rectal area are common during pregnancy. Fortunately, they usually clear up in the weeks after giving birth.

We had our 2nd childbirth class this week, it was the week they show. the. video.
It wasn't too bad, even considering the ladies in the video were not on any pain meds! I think I can do it, just have to concentrate and really relax during it all, which hopefully Luke can help me with. we learned some great breathing exercises to do to get my mind off the pain, and some ways to sit/stand together to also help. I thought this class was really informative!

My 29 week doctor appointment went well and now I will start going every 2 weeks! She said not to worry about my (pillow like) feet, try to keep them up when I can, go swimming when I can (yes please), have Luke rub them at night, and drink LOTS... like get the water drinking on overload! Some pretty good prescriptions if you ask me! I feel like I drink water all day now but I am going to try and kick it up a notch because they said this could help with by rib/side pains as well. Everything came back completely normal so I am trying not to worry about the rib pain anymore, It is hard to ignore at times but as long as baby is healthy I'm happy!
I am up 6 pounds since my last appointment, yes friends that is 6 pounds in four weeks, so much for shooting for a pound a week at this point! My nurse said some women experience one big jump so maybe this was mine.
Baby's heartbeat was good at 147-150 and he was of course moving around!
I asked my doctor how long she will let you go after your due date (hoping this is not a problem but with the track record in my family looks like I am SOL) She said one week, this puts me at October fourth, but we have a while to worry about that.
This weekend we are going out to Tablerock lake in Branson MO with Luke's dad's side of the family. His stepbrother will go from California with his wife and 3 kids, his stepsister will go from Illinois with her husband and 3 kids, and all of us from St. Louis. Should be a fun, hopefully relaxing weekend, I plan to take my doctors orders and be in the pool. Its gonna be a hot one here in STL!!!

Showered with friends

Saturday one of Luke's close family friends threw us a couples baby shower! They live on Lake Saint Louis and have an amazing house on the lake. It was a very nice, relaxing, fun day, and a great excuse to see some of our friends that are all busy with summer activities.
Guess this kicks off shower time for me, how exciting!

28 Weeks

Basketball, honeydew, we are getting called all kinds of things these days...
looking at my love, the bump.

Belly button still hanging on!
Look at the crazy comparison! This was at 23 weeks just 5 weeks ago!

28 weeks: By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

Last night in class at the last 10 minutes they had the "mommies" sit on the floor in front of the "daddies" in a chair the lights were dimmed, music was put on, and we got a back/shoulder rub. As daddy was rubbing me the teacher was talking in a calm soft voice as she had us go through and imagine holding our babies, she went through each body part in depth and had us imagine it. What I saw was William with some blonde hair (since they said he had hair in the u/s) brown eyes, the sweetest little baby face, (with big chubby cheeks just like mom) and I kept imagining his soft skin and kissing his sweet little feet.
Daddy did a great job massaging, it is hard for me to "let go" but for a second I was gone, I was finally a mommy looking at my babies face, it brought a tear to my eye... I cant wait to meet you little Will!

Good little students!

Yesterday was a crazy filled day at work for me, with the 3 day weekend there was lots to catch up on! I rushed home after work to let Boomer out and get my stuff for our first child birthing class, then off to pick up Luke from work... when we have to be somewhere at a certain time this is just easier than him driving home. I brought some snacks for us to chow in the car since we did not have time for dinner, and I didn't know what to expect.
I decided to sign us up for the (ultimate) childbirth class, it is from 6:30-9:30 6 weeks long, covering: labor/childbirth, newborn care, and breastfeeding, and also includes the tour! I figured we have never done this before so why not! We like the instructor a lot, she really seems to know what she is talking about and explain everything really well.
The first class was mostly informative on what your body is going through, signs of labor, what to do, etc. Some was repetitive since I am reading online and books but she tells you what you really need to know! There was about a 10 minute break in which you could go get a snack... Looks like Tuesdays will be our totally unhealthy night, not much to choose from at 8:00 pm in the hospital cafe' We both ended up with pizza and I washed mine down with chocolate milk. We were the only people that brought food back to the class, (the rest also looked like they had time to go home and change after work) whatever, we will be the class "work dressed/fatties!"
Something else I also noticed, I am right about the same amount "along" as all the other ladies and there are a couple further along, one due in 6 weeks (Umm it is a 6 week course, guess at the last class she is going to get wheeled up to delivery!?! But she is 19, so I am glad/proud she is even taking the class, so no judgement!) Anyway, I am the biggest one in the class, I mean not weight /size wise, but BELLY wise you would think I am about to POP compared to these people... I know everyone is different and everyone gains/carries different but kinda crazy!
It was fun to be in class again, don't want to speak too soon but sometimes I contemplate going back to school for my masters. It was also fun to be in class with Luke, he made it fun and paid attention to everything... We were good little students and looking forward to learning lots more!

3rd times a charm!

Prayers and wishful thinking out to one of the bestest friends a girl could ask for, Meghan is on her 3rd round of IUI and hoping for child #2, she was blessed with a son last year. I know all this testing, injections, and hormones is hard for her, so hoping for a positive result this time if not she is going to wait a while to try again.
Love you Meghan, thinking of you!
