Finally... Good News!!!

Boomer does not have Cancer!!! We are so happy, and ready to put this all behind us. The doctor said it wasn't even a tumor, it was some sort of growth, he will be fine and doesn't need to go back any time soon! He did say that if it would of been cancer that it would of been bad bad bad... to have it in that spot.

So we are very happy for Boomer and glad all of the worry is over! :)

A funny.... or maybe my new life motto!

Holy Cow...

I am going to be 25 soon!!!!! Well in 36 days... but that made the wheels start turning for how I will celebrate this mile stone...

We will round up the troops and head to the winery, I am so excited for my birthday this year because Luke is going to celebrate it for ONCE... ha ha, I tease him because for as long as I can remember he is always out of town on my birthday (or forgets it, but I wont get into that) Also one of my best girlfriends from Kansas City will be coming in town for the shindig, she is actually doing all the planning for me; she knows I don't need another thing to do! ... Thank you Ash!!!
I cant wait, it will be just the stress relief I have been looking for. I hope it is gorgeous weather and everyone can come, should be a very fun day! So mark your calender for May 2nd, e vite to follow from Ash :)

Here is a pic of the favorite girls and I at my little 23rd birthday celebration.

The new pimp mobile!!!

Well we did it, after a weekend of contemplating, test driving and haggling we purchased my new ride! It is a 2009 Toyota Camry with only 3000 miles! It's color is granite and I LOVE it :)

It was a hard decision, pay deductible and get my car fixed or bite the bullet and just get a new one, but we decided to bite... it will be tight till we get Luke's car paid for but hopefully that can happen in a year or so!

I did not have time to take pics yet, but I will try to this week, it is going in for two days to get my sunroof installed this week!

Thanks for all your support, yes when it rains it does pour but hopefully the sunshine will start soon and create a rainbow for summer for all the mess we have had during the downpour!

Hopefully we will find out soon about Boomer's situation.

The Accident

Thursday on my way home from work some a**hole hit me while driving and sped off. I went to pull over to exchange info and before I could even think about getting his plates he was gone, it was an old beat up truck, so if anyone sees him driving around St. Peters let me know. I did file a police report, but I do not have such high hopes that this will turn into anything.
I wanted to maybe get a new car in about a year or so from now anyway, so to me it seems really dumb to put 1000 of work into mine, (my deductible is 1000, we just raised it bc we are both pretty good drivers) So now I am trying to figure out if I should just get a new car now and not mess with the hassle and cost of fixing mine.

Our weekend is now filled with researching cars, mechanics, and "playing the game"
Hopefully Monday I can post either pics of a new ride, or a rental, since my will hopefully be getting fixed, it is definitely ghettofied right now! and yes of COURSE this had to happen on the same EXPENSIVE week as Boomer's surgery! Thanks, Mr. Truck man... icing on this cake does not taste so great.

I really like a Camry I found and an Altima, any reviews on either?

Yummy Dinners

I enjoy cooking and entertaining, (though I do have my days) And with the current economic situation Luke and I have been trying to eat in and and make our own meals more and more, especially during the week nights when we just hang at home and watch idol anyway ;)

I thought I would share two new recipes we tried recently that we will definitely be having again! I usually try to find recipes that we have most the staple ingredients on hand for and maybe just have to pick up an item or two, this also helps with the grocery bill!
BAKED ZITI with Fire roasted tomatoes....

2 1/2cups uncooked ziti pasta (8 oz)
1/2lb extra-lean (at least 90%) ground beef (ours was frozen in 1 lb bags so I used a whole pound)
1large sweet onion, chopped (1 cup)
2cloves garlic, finely chopped
1medium zucchini, cut in half lengthwise, sliced 1/4 inch thick
1can (15 oz) organic tomato sauce
1can (14.5 oz) organic fire roasted diced tomatoes, drained
2teaspoons chopped fresh oregano leaves
1/4teaspoon coarse (kosher or sea) salt
1/4teaspoon pepper
3/4cup shredded mozzarella cheese (3 oz)

1.Heat oven to 375°F. Cook and drain pasta as directed on box.
2.Meanwhile, spray 12x8-inch (2-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray. In 12-inch nonstick skillet, cook beef, onion and garlic over medium heat, stirring frequently, until beef is thoroughly cooked.
3.Stir zucchini into beef mixture; cook 2 minutes. Stir in tomato sauce, tomatoes, oregano, salt and pepper. Heat to boiling. Add drained pasta; toss to coat. Spread in baking dish.
4.Cover dish tightly with foil; bake 20 minutes. Remove foil; sprinkle with cheese. Bake uncovered about 5 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.

A Slow Cooker Chinese Chicken Dish

I love using the slow cooker and coming home and smelling that dinner is done and I can use that time to get something else accomplished! So I was excited to find this Chinese dish for a slow cooker, something we have never done.

1 tablespoon cooking oil1 pound lean ground chicken

1 (19-ounce) can of chickpeas (garbanzo beans), rinsed and drained

1 cup finely chopped onion 1/4 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup sun-dried tomato pesto 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

1 (14-ounce) can of diced tomatoes (with juice) 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt

4 cups chopped red pepper 1 cup finely chopped zucchini (with peel)

Heat cooking oil in large frying pan on medium. Add ground chicken. Scramble-fry for 5 to 10 minutes until no longer pink. Drain. Transfer to 3 1/2 to 4 quart slow cooker.
Add chickpeas, onion and first amount of salt. Stir.
Stir pesto into flour in small bowl until smooth. Add next 4 ingredients. Stir well. Pour over chicken mixture. Stir well. Cover. Cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours or on High for 4 to 5 hours.
Add red pepper and zucchini. Stir. Cover. Cook on High for 30 to 45 minutes until red pepper is tender-crisp....
Make Ahead: The night before, chop vegetables. Chill overnight in separate covered bowls. Scramble-fry ground chicken until no longer pink. Drain. Chill overnight in separate covered bowl. Assemble and cook as directed.

Home sweet home!

YAY! Boomer is finally home...
Luke picked him up yesterday after work around 6 and talked to the doctor, the doctor was very pleased with the surgery and said Boomer did good. He was on a lot of pain killers so he was very wobbly.
If you know Boomer you know he is a very active dog, so not being able to walk so well was very weird for him, he still tried to jump a little, which is hard when your hind legs don't work!
They shaved a patch on his lil arm where his iv's were, and shaved his butt a little. He also had very greasy watery eyes, we think they put something over them to help him sleep???
My friend Michelle came over to hang out on the deck with all of us and then we all went in to watch idol... Boomer was very antsy all night which was hard since all we wanted him to do way lie down. We all finally went to bed and relaxed later that night.
I woke up at 4 am with Boomer crying/ whining so I got up to see if he wanted to go outside, Ohh boy did he, all those IV fluids must of built up!

When the alarm went off at 5:30 and Boomer was all snuggled in next to me after a very long previous day the last thing I wanted to do was get up and go to work.
But yes I am here surprisingly!

Thank you for all the well wishes and support for Boomer... Him Luke and I all appreciate it, now lets keep hoping for good results from the lab work in 5-6 days!

A very hard day on St Pats!

Well I did it and I was strong while doing so... I loaded Boomer up and took him to what will be a very hard day. It was so hard to not just leave him at home with his comfy bed and favorite toys, but I had to do what needed to be done. Thankfully as Boomer and I pulled up so did my favorite nurse/ vet assistant lady, she is so nice and comforted me so much on the first procedure he had done. We said hello in the parking lot and then she helped me once I came in, she had me sign away on everything and I decided to let them trim Boomers nails while he would be under, since he doesn't like doing this while he is awake. She asked how I was doing, and she told me she knew how hard this was on me, and reassured me that she would call me when he got out of surgery or I could call at any point to check on him.
Then I gave him kisses and a hug and said good bye.
The last time I had to leave him there all day it was so unexpected I thought he was just going in to get checked out so I was much more upset, but I prepared myself for today and only cried a little when I left.

Okay, I just got the call at 11:30, the same nurse I like called me.... Boomer is out of surgery and is doing good. He is still sleeping, has the catheter in, and has 2 iv's in one is helping him with thirst and hunger. They took out the lump and said it was the size of a marble and they will send it away to the lab for testing. We will get results from the lump in 5-6 days. She said we are okay to pick him up today after work, and I am sure we will have many more questions about his recovery then but for now we are just happy our lil man is resting and getting better.

I hope he is not too scared or sore when he wakes up. I cant wait to hold him and hug him tonight!

Boomer Ohh sweet Boomer

Well we had our 3rd appt about the bump on Saturday morning. This appt we were hoping for it to be gone and forget about this whole mess. It is not gone. My eyes instantly filled up as the doctor explained out new route.

Boomer has a surgery scheduled for tomorrow (in case it is cancerous I wanted to get him in asap)

He will be there all day but we will get to pick him up after work if the surgery goes well.

During this they will take out the bump, that the doctor thinks is a tumor (in his bootie, nice way to say it is in his anus)

If it is not a tumor at this point, that is really good it is just a growth or something.
If it is a tumor it gets sent away for testing to find out if it is cancerous or not. God ohh god please don't let it be cancer, if it is benine we are fine and done with this nightmare. If it is cancer I am afraid the nightmare is just begining.

There are several routes to take if it is, but with Boomer still being young and happy we will probably wait a while and monitor him and let him live a very happy life while he is here with us.
Luke and I were very distraught at the doctor so we called later to ask many questions and schedule the surgery. I also tried to call to get some second opinions but all doctors wanted to see him in the office, we had already put him thru so much I am not going to pay to get told he needs surgery again.

Tomorrow will be very hard, I will drop him off in the morning and they will call me and update me then Luke will pick him up.

I just hope the surgery goes well and I hope for a speedy delivery of all news after!

Boomer hung out with us outside all Saturday and Sunday and we enjoyed some much needed family time together!

Tired of TV!?!?!

Yes you read the title right, I have been in a slump and I feel like I am tired of watching everything on. With Luke and I trying to cut back on spending we are at home most weeknights, we make dinner and plop in front of the TV, (yes I am sure this is GREAT for our bodies...)
But lately I am sick of all the shows... Greys and Private Practice used to be some of our favorites and I feel like even these are getting a little annoying.
Does anyone know when the finales are and when the shows go on hiatus? Because when this happens it means that our cable series shows will be new again... Entourage, Weeds, and Californication, does anyone know when these will be premiering again.
Thanks! Hope everyone has a great weekend.

What a weekend!

So peaceful! I love his little bootie!

Ok so you are my Uncle... lets have a stare off!

Ohh my ohh my, my lovely Aunt, I love her so much, and she gives me the softest kisses!
What a great weekend we got so much in it felt great to get so many things done and see so many people!
The weather was amazing so Boomer had some great outside time, we got to see some awesome friends, we got a lot done around our house, we dropped our taxes off, we spent some time with my momma, and most importantly we got to see my lil Bud Bennett! I hadn't seen him since last Friday in the hospital so you can imagine the itch I had been getting that just wouldn't go away! He was so precious and was awake hanging out with me just about the whole time I was there! It was also good to catch up with Crystal and Greg, they are doing good and adjusting to parenthood and all the fun things that go along with it!
Notice that my kisses are "priceless" so we got a pic showing this off!
What an accomplishing, rewarding, and fun weekend!
PS: My handy husband also installed the last (for a while) new light fixture, the ceiling fan in our BEDROOM! Cant wait to use this on the upcoming spring days!

Boomer's Visit!

Boomer went for his check up last night to see how the bump was progressing! I made the appt later so Luke could go with us, I didn't think I could handle doing it by myself again. Luke got to experience the utter pain and heartbreak as we held Boomer and the doctor did his business.... Yay, he said the bump is still there but it seems to be getting smaller, he said if it was for sure a tumor it would of either gotten bigger or stayed the same size, so he prescribed us another 10 days of antibiotics hoping this will make it go away or go even smaller, then we will go back to the doctor AGAIN in a couple more weeks. So not exactly the news we were hoping for but all in all things seem okay. Since we had the dr. appt right after work we had made a crock pot meal for dinner... since Boomer has been such a trooper thru all of this we gave him a big bowl of OUR dinner for the night, here he is enjoying it!

Updates on Everthing!

Well it sure seems to us like quite a lot has been going on lately, so I thought I would take a minute to update and re cap on everything :)

- the dreaded rental property- No it is not sold... :( But Luke worked his booty off to get it all in tip top shape, we signed a lease to own with someone, basically this means they are responsible for paying the mortgage to us and they can find renters if they want. At least we have the mortgage each month... if they pay.

- My Nana- She is still recovery at home from her heart surgery, it has been a rough road to recovery and it seems the surgery had a major effect on her mentally as well, but she is getting better, moving around, and hopefully for the most part keeping an upbeat attitude.

-Luke's new Job- Luke started his new job at citigroup! He is in week 3 of 4 of training right now and is getting tired of the training but we think he will like the position and the company. They do fun things like you can pay 20 bucks to a charity for a month and wear jeans all month, I think Luke will be taking advantage of this! Luke is also still selling insurance on the side, he makes commissions on this so we are hoping it will bring in a little extra spending cash! Let us know if you need a quote!

- Boom Boom- He is doing good at taking all of his medicines, we found the genius trick... Cheese! We go back to the dr. Wednesday afternoon to do an exam and see if the bump is gone... Please let it be gone!

- Bennett Gregory- My new nephew... LOVE HIM!!! He is amazing, and there is just something about being in the next room while your sister gives birth. I am sure it will be so much fun watching him grow up and I hope he will have some more little cousins eventually ;) Crystal and Bennett went home Saturday and they are both doing great, just at home adjusting to everyday life.

- Me- ha ha... since all the updates were about other people I thought I would say something I have been up to in my free time... We recently changed all the lighting fixtures on the main floor of our house, the old ones were the brass color and we changed them to bronze. We have on order a new kitchen table and I have been decorating and finishing my masterpiece: the wine room aka the dining room :)
I am also in the process of hopefully booking us a vacation for November, It will be much needed! We are thinking of going to the palace resorts in Mexico, where we were with my family when we got engaged... here is a pic from the trip!

Now I have to stop on projects for a while till we have more money!
