How Luke and I found out!

Read first if you want a Recap!

It was a Wednesday night, I was supposed to "start" on Saturday or Sunday so I decided (after my friend Meghan saying I HAD to) take a pregnancy test. Once I took the famous one question test I could not believe my eyes, 5 minutes my butt, this bright pink line on the "yes" side showed up RIGHT away! I was a good girl and waited before freaking out, I even decided to chug some water from the bathroom faucet to calm down, my way of starting to be healthy?!? I texted a picture of the test to my friend Meghan who was home with her husband and friend doing some major home remodeling, and she called me right away and told me in fact what I saw was true! (she is kind of an expert on this) I must of asked her 150 times if it was right, I didn't want to get happy or excited if for some reason it was wrong! She assured me over and over again to go ahead and believe it, I started bawling instantly, something I have wanted for my whole life had come true! I've known I have always wanted to be a mom and watched friends struggle with infertility, and just like that on a Wednesday night God blessed me with a miracle.

Another post on How I told here: http://ashleyluke.blogspot.com/2010/02/how-i-told.html

I decided I would have Boomer tell Luke, he is after all our first born and I thought it would be a good memory. I quickly made him a shirt to wear that said "I'm going to be a big Brother" When Luke normally gets home from work, Boomer is very excited to say hi to him and tell him about his day so to get this on film I had to put Boomer in our room (I lie and tell Luke I accidentally left him upstairs when the UPS man came to the door) Then I tell Luke to look at the mail on the table so that I could get a good "shot" of him. His reaction is so speechless so the video didn't turn out as good as I thought. But like I said...a great memory for us, and for baby Wilson someday!

Sidenote: at the end when I tell Luke he is on candid camera, I should of kept the video going because he then thinks this was all a joke, he says "that was a mean joke!"... I assured him it was real and I am not THAT mean!

As we enter this next journey in our life, it makes me wonder how we will fit it all in a day, we barley do it now with no kiddos! That is why I am going to keep the blog going. not sure how many people read it, I know about 5 for sure (ha!), but to me it is a heck of a lot easier than keeping a scrapbook or journal for my child. I might try to be a super star and do both in the beginning but we all know that good intentions sometimes slack off in the end. Luke and I are so in love with baby Wilson already we feel very blessed that God chose us as parents and we are going to be the best darn parents we can be for this little baby.

Cardinals Spring Training 2010

Crab Leg Night, Our waitress was so cute, she was foreign and asked us if Lady gaga was a guy or girl! :)
Dave got the all you can eat and ate 5 plates of crab legs! Whoa!

Luke in heaven!

This might be my favorite picture of us 4, all very happy for the first day, and opening day for the Cards at Spring Training!

The strip at Los Olas there were people and spring breakers everywhere, got to enjoy some fun relaxing people watching, ohh and Luke got hit on by a guy in a bikini, classic!

At Hooters people watching, The had 3 mocktail (non alcoholic) drinks for me to choose from, YUM!
We had a great trip, good weather, good friends, good baseball (even though we lost both games we went to) We went to some really fun places in Jupiter, West Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale! So glad we could go this year with Colleen and Ross, and there were plenty of little ones there having a blast so hopefully we can make it back again sometime! Loved the energy and the intimacy of baseball at Spring Training!
Now lets get this St Louis weather going in the right direction and kick off baseball season right.... Opening day in St Louis is on our 2 year anniversary, Go Cards!

How I told...

I found out I was expecting on a Wednesday right after work, after freaking out from excitement for a minute and a long phone call to a friend confirming what I saw was indeed correct I began to think about how to tell Luke, I had thought up a few situations in my head but decided to let Boomer do the talking, he is our first born! ;) So I quickly made him this shirt, then I decided I would need to get this memory on film! But Luke would know something right away if I was standing there with a video camera when he walked in the door so I strategically placed it hidden and had some mail for him to look at on our kitchen table. I will have to post this video, cute! Luke was very excited and mostly speechless but I don't think I will ever forget that amazing look in his face, happy and scared shitless!

My girlfriends and I had plans to go to the Melting Pot (one of our FAVORITE restaurants) for a girls night out so it only seemed appropriate to tell them all there, together and all in person. I had cards made up with Boomers picture that said "mommy and daddy are excited because I'm going to be a big brother, Baby Wilson coming Sept 2010" They all opened them together and there were screams, tears, and cheers! It was such a fun memorable night!

It was so tough to keep this from my family, especially my mom, she is one of my best friends and I tell her EVERYTHING! We were going to dinner for my moms birthday and I knew I would have to tell them then, my mom had already been with me and I opted out of the usual glass of wine so I knew she would get the hint if I was not drinking on her birthday. We were on the phone for a long time the day before dinner and I just couldn't keep it in any longer I blurted it out! She was thrilled, the next night I told the rest of them. My sister could not be happier, her little boy turns one this Friday! I had them all open appropriate clothing, my dad was confused at first, I think he thought his was for Bennett!

Two Pink Lines!

Yup that's right! Luke and I are expecting our first little miracle, we are both so overwhelmed with happiness, love, & excitement! Tomorrow (Tuesday) I will be 9 weeks along, we found out right around 4 weeks and kept it a secret for a little while. We had our first doctor appointment this past Wednesday and saw our little bean and its heartbeat, it was so special for both of us and made it such a more "real" experience. I absolutely LOVE my doctor, and she spent the next hour with me talking about everything and answering any questions I had etc...

Answers to the first questions everyone asks me:
Officially Due date is: Sept 27th 2010
So far I am feeling great, I am tired a lot, but feeling great!
My pants are a little snug but I will fit in them for as long as I can.
We are not 100% sure yet if we are going to find out the sex, that appt is at 20 weeks so we have a while.

Paint, Paint, Paint!

These pictures are from last weekend, when the painting began, it ended up being a pretty big project since our kitchen and family room all run together!
Our TV hung above the fireplace, YES! And you can see the difference in the paint colors from what we used to have on the right hand wall here. Don't mind the messy house, painting weekend got messy!

My happy little painter, Luke is so good he doesn't tape he just takes his time and uses his patience (both things I am NOT good at) and is very careful. We started painting last Saturday and finished up this Sunday, over a week later!

Christmas pt 2

This year was Bennett's first Christmas, it was fun having a new member in the family to share it with! He was napping while we all did our family gifts, and then he woke up and did his, he even got the hang of ripping the wrapping paper! Even though he didnt need anything of course he got spoiled along with the rest of us! My dad was getting B boy interested in this rawhide more than his own presents.

We're back!

We got back from our week long trip to Can cun Mexico Saturday afternoon, it was an amazing week. We ate too much, drank lots of fun cocktails, and laughed so hard we cried!
I had a great spa morning, with massage, facial, and pampering, and Luke and a day of golf.
We are so grateful for our great friends and for being able to do fun things like this with each other... sometimes you just have to get away!

A KC Halloween!

After much contemplation about the upcoming weekend, I decided to be spontaneous! I am very bad at doing this and realized that if the pitter patter of little feet ever come into our lives I will not be able to just up and leave when I want.
The original plan was to surprise my good friend Ashley in KC and just show up at her door Friday, but I CANNOT keep a secret for the life of me so I ended up telling her I was coming, She was still very pleasantly surprised and excited since she didn't have weekend plans either.
We had a great time hanging out, catching up, visited my dad at a cow show, went to a bloody mary bar (over 100 different toppings!) shopped at the plaza, (I am done Christmas shopping for 3 people!!!) and we went to a fun Halloween party on Saturday night! We decided at about 8 pm we would go so we had to use our imagination to come up with some costumes...
I was the bridesmaid and Ashley was the Bride (Mrs.Wilson!) for a batchlorette party Halloween!
I had a really great time and fun weekend, Thanks Miss Ash!
With one of my new best friends, this dog was AWESOME! Dancing with Rhonda the cross dresser, this guy kept his act up the entire night!
The BRIDE and I!

FUN times! Notice all my BLING, that made the night that much better! :)

Go Cards!

Greg with his students
Cause we don't have ANY Game pics together... ;)

A, not so happy new little fan!

My Grandma Ad, Mom, and I

Wednesday my brother in law Greg lead some of his students in the singing of Take me out to the ball game, so we all got tickets to go watch and cheer him on. My grandparents from out of town also came in to go and it was my dads birthday, so an eventful week!

The game was my nephew Bennett's first Cards game, of many I'm sure, he didn't like it so much this first time, loud noises, lots of people, and he was tired...

One of our Stories...

In November Luke and I are taking a trip to Mexico with a couple of our friends, It will of been a little over a year and a half since our honeymoon and we are so excited! We are going to the same resort we went to with my family a couple years ago... http://palaceresorts.com/Resorts/MoonPalace/Index.asp

My grandparents on my moms side took all of us here to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary a couple years ago, It was a great time, it was fun to be on a trip with family, all inclusives are always fun, and the resort had some really great events we attended, but the highlight of my trip was our engagement!

Luke and I had been dating for about four years, and of course I was itching to get asked a certain question... But I had no clue it was going to happen here. One night before we all set out to go to dinner Luke acted like he was giving a toast to my grandparents for 50 years, but the toast ended up with Luke down on one knee asking me if I would spend my next 50 with him as well! I was so surprised and so happy, and it was very neat to have some of my family there to experience it all with me, my brother in law Greg videotaped and my sister took pictures!

I would not change one thing about our engagement, and it is a night I will never ever forget!

But one of the reasons for this post is also because... I LOVED my ring Luke got me, it was everything I wanted. It is an antiquy looking ring that is different yet very elegant, but it was expensive so when it came time for our wedding a year last we didn't go out and get me a wedding band, since my ring is different the band has to be custom made so it can be a little more pricey than regular also....

Since then, and the house and then rental property, etc etc.. it has just been something we have put off, I don't mind but I did eventually want one...

So Saturday morning while we were running some errands we went and put it on ORDER! They have to make a wax mold first that I will approve, and it will take about 3 weeks to get my ring back but I am so excited!!!!! I had to post about it!

***Funny side note: Out at Fast Eddies on Saturday for a friends birthday, a waitress came over to me and told me a guy wanted to buy some drinks for me... Guess sometimes it "pays" to not have a ring on, doesn't hurt your self-esteem much either ;)

Fun times and Great friends for a great weekend in Arkansas! It was a long drive, and I have no idea how Jim and Leslie do it all the time but it was definitely worth it to see some great friends. Jim's house is amazing, so pretty, clean, and organized! And his dog Waylon seems to be very happy there! Thanks for the hospitality Jim and Leslie, lets do it again soon!

A drinkin town with a baseball problem!

The All Star game is in Saint Louis!!! Usually I don't think this game is that big of a deal but boy was I wrong, when it is in our town it is HUGE! St. Louie has been taken over by baseball fans from all over!
Luke and I were not lucky enough to get tickets to the game or the home run derby, but we did get tickets to fan fest from my dad! It is basically a baseball theme park... we went last night, the night of the home run derby, it was fun to be down town and feel all the excitement that our city has to offer! And it is cool seeing all the visitors in town and the money flowing thru from all of the events that have been going on since Friday! My friend Shannon is in town from Vegas for it so I will be out with her for the game tonight... but I think we are going to play it safe and stay away from down town tonight!
