29 Week Uppity Updates!

29 Weeks: Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk. This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.

Your baby's very active now. Let your provider know if you ever notice that your baby is becoming less active. You may need a nonstress test or biophysical profile to check on your baby's condition.Some old friends — heartburn and constipation — may take center stage now. The pregnancy hormone progesterone relaxes smooth muscle tissue throughout your body, including your gastrointestinal tract. This relaxation, coupled with the crowding in your abdomen, slows digestion. Sluggish digestion can cause gas and heartburn — especially after a big meal — and contribute to constipation.Your growing uterus may also be contributing to hemorrhoids. These swollen blood vessels in your rectal area are common during pregnancy. Fortunately, they usually clear up in the weeks after giving birth.

We had our 2nd childbirth class this week, it was the week they show. the. video.
It wasn't too bad, even considering the ladies in the video were not on any pain meds! I think I can do it, just have to concentrate and really relax during it all, which hopefully Luke can help me with. we learned some great breathing exercises to do to get my mind off the pain, and some ways to sit/stand together to also help. I thought this class was really informative!

My 29 week doctor appointment went well and now I will start going every 2 weeks! She said not to worry about my (pillow like) feet, try to keep them up when I can, go swimming when I can (yes please), have Luke rub them at night, and drink LOTS... like get the water drinking on overload! Some pretty good prescriptions if you ask me! I feel like I drink water all day now but I am going to try and kick it up a notch because they said this could help with by rib/side pains as well. Everything came back completely normal so I am trying not to worry about the rib pain anymore, It is hard to ignore at times but as long as baby is healthy I'm happy!
I am up 6 pounds since my last appointment, yes friends that is 6 pounds in four weeks, so much for shooting for a pound a week at this point! My nurse said some women experience one big jump so maybe this was mine.
Baby's heartbeat was good at 147-150 and he was of course moving around!
I asked my doctor how long she will let you go after your due date (hoping this is not a problem but with the track record in my family looks like I am SOL) She said one week, this puts me at October fourth, but we have a while to worry about that.
This weekend we are going out to Tablerock lake in Branson MO with Luke's dad's side of the family. His stepbrother will go from California with his wife and 3 kids, his stepsister will go from Illinois with her husband and 3 kids, and all of us from St. Louis. Should be a fun, hopefully relaxing weekend, I plan to take my doctors orders and be in the pool. Its gonna be a hot one here in STL!!!
